Job Description:   Developer Analyst– Contractor

The Developer Analyst - Contractor develops and maintains software applications. The Developer Analyst - Contractor is a mid-level software development position.  The Developer Analyst is responsible for assisting in the design and maintenance of software applications that provide flexible, efficient, accurate and effective solutions for SRB clients. This position reports to the Software Development Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

R&D Initiatives

• Be a vital part of L4U Agile Scrum Team. Actively participate in Daily Huddles, Sprint Review, Retrospective and Planning meetings.
• Contribute to the design and development of quality solutions consistent with SRB’s objectives and client requirements following technology architecture standards.
• Participate in the development lifecycle which may include the full range of requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, quality assurance, implementation and documentation, as well as system application upgrades.
• Support all Research & Development initiatives.
• Test and debug applications to ensure proper performance, and develop/modify associated program documentation.
• Participate in the preparation of work estimates and progress reports on project work.
• Schedule all assigned activities and submit detailed daily timesheets.
• Analyze and generate solutions to resolve software design and program deficiencies.
• Suggest improvements to ensure software solutions remain flexible and scalable.
• Contribute to the design and development of quality solutions consistent with SRB’s objectives and client requirements following technology architecture standards.
• Participate in the development lifecycle, which may include the full range of requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation and documentation, as well as system application upgrades.
• Deliver effective and efficient solutions by meeting key project milestones and overall project deliverables on time, and adhering to development and quality standards.
• Challenge ideas and designs and suggest improvements to ensure software solutions remain flexible and scalable.
• Participate in the preparation of work estimates and progress reports on project work.
• Create required documentation as needed.  Includes, but is not limited to, assisting in compiling business requirements, release notes and overview documents.
• Develop and execute QA test plans and test cases.
• Other duties as required.

Maintenance & Support

• Interact with services team and clients to resolve application issues.
• Review and evaluate project documentation to determine accuracy and compatibility in light of business requirements.
• Ensure client change requests are being met through new applications development and/or enhancements/customizations to existing applications.

Revenue Work

• Complete revenue generating projects within allocated time and budget.

Skills Required

• Good understanding and ability to follow Project and Systems Development Life Cycles - designing, developing, testing, deploying and maintaining large-scale, administrative applications on multiple platforms
• Ability to work in a team environment, resolve complex development issues and meet deadlines.  Ability to manage and work on multiple projects with short development cycles;

Education & Experience Required:

• Experience in software development in general and database-driven Web Development in particular.
• 3+ years of demonstrated expertise with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, jQuery/AngularJS, DOM model and SQL.
• Good understanding of XML, Ajax, RESTful services, SOAP, Unicode.
• Education sector background an asset.
• Post-secondary degree/diploma in computer programming desired.
