KEY ACHIEVEMENTS • Valve Optimization: Sealed a leaking 26” ATR NRV valve (600°C, 30 bar) using a custom graphite gasket and FEA simulation in SolidWorks, saving over $500 000. • Cost Reduction: Modified spiral wound gasket for a 12” BFW valve using ASME B16.20 standard, saving $1,800. • Safety Campaign: Launched 'Mirror of Safety' initiative across 2 mega-projects, improving HSE compliance and on-site safety awareness. • Separation Efficiency: Boosted inlet gas separation from 60% to 90% via internal reconfiguration – formed PhD dissertation base. • Cataloging & Inventory: Developed comprehensive BOM for pressure vessel spare parts; optimized SAP stock and procurement cycles. • Thermal Inspections: Used FLIR T540 for visual thermal inspections; analyzed hot spots, temperature profiles, and reported anomalies. Maintenance & Technical Support • Provided technical support to maintenance and operations teams across multiple disciplines. • Successfully resolved recurrent issues, including steam and oxygen pre-heater leaks, sealing a leak on the ATR NRV 26-inch check valve, and repairing a 12-inch BFW check valve using standard spiral wound gaskets (ASME B16.20). • Played a key role in decommissioning and isolating Main Heat Exchangers (MHE) within ASU Trains 1 & 2 and Cold Boxes 1 & 2. Quality Assurance & Turnaround (TAR) Activities • Supervised Third Party Inspection (TPI) contractors during the 2024 Major Turnaround. • Conducted internal visual inspections of Waste Heat Boiler (WHB), Auto Thermal Reforming (ATR) reactor, Steam Methane Reformer (SMR), vessels, and fire heaters. • Managed blinding and repairs of major equipment (WHB, ATR, SMR, ASU) while coordinating closely with refractory repair vendor (G+J) and licensor (Haldor Topsoe). Inspection & Refractory Work • Performed detailed inspections of WHB internal components, including tube lengths, refractory conditions, ferrules, liners, and anchors. • Carried out internal visual inspections of ATR components, including T-joints, mushroom heads, and mixers. • Oversaw inspection and repair of fire heater elements: refractory, burners, insulation, tubes, and isolation walls between coils 3 and 4. • Supervised PWHT processes and NDT examinations (hardness testing, ferrite content, radiographic testing) for replaced tubes. Documentation & QA/QC Procedures • Prepared CRIP (Change, repair and inspection plan), ITP (Inspection & Test Plan), and method statements for castable and insulation pad replacement on SMR burner refractory. • Conducted and signed off final box-up inspections, CRIP, and ITP documents. • Executed QA/QC activities during ASU repairs, including MHE, steam and oxygen heater replacements, PSSR readiness checks, and oxygen cleaning verification. Procurement & Materials Management • Developed a comprehensive master catalog of pressure vessel spare parts and consumables, producing complete Bills of Materials (BOM) for static equipment. • Raised Purchase Requisitions (PRs) via SAP to procure full stock of bolts, nuts, and gaskets. • Performed technical bid evaluations (TBE) for butterfly valves, fasteners, and gaskets; conducted incoming material inspections at the warehouse. Engineering Standards & Technical Procedures • Developed flange bolting torque and tensioning procedures, including calculation spreadsheets with torque/tension values. • Identified suitable filler wires and WPS for heat exchanger tube/tube sheet repairs and flange face (RF/RTJ) restoration on gate/check valves. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) & Thermal Inspection • Conducted DPT, MPT, UT, VT, hardness testing, thickness measurements, and borescope inspections of ASU and ATR static equipment (vessels, columns, cold boxes, burners, piping). • Performed external thermal inspections using FLIR T540 IR-camera, developed analytical reports highlighting hot spots, surface temperature distributions, and other key thermal parameters. • Applied standards and guidelines from GOST, ASME, and API for determining inspection intervals and procedures. Routine Maintenance & PM Coordination • Participated in daily and monthly preventive maintenance (PM) tasks for pressure vessels, piping, and PSVs. • Monitored equipment inspection schedules, identified overdue items, addressed field issues, and contributed to daily meetings and monthly reporting. Software Proficiency & Standards Knowledge • Skilled in software tools: MS Office, ASSAI, AVEVA 3D, SAP (CMMS), AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Navisworks, and FLIR Thermal Studio. • Well-versed in industry standards: ASME B16.5, B16.20, B16.47, B31.3; API 510, API 570; and GOST specifications.
